Economic Opportunities.
When you empower women you empower a community.
Humanity Unified empowers women to rise above poverty.
Over the past seven years, we have created projects to benefit women living in extreme poverty (earning approximately $.87 a day).
A wholistic approach.
The women enrolled in our programs receive education in health, human rights (women’s and children’s rights /family law), sexual and gender-based violence, mental health awareness and child abuse , ‘Positive Masculinity’ and ‘Men Engage’ training (to build strong, harmonious families), financial planning, business skills/entrepreneurship workshops and sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture methods to empower them to be food secure and to create economic opportunities.
With the assistance of a Field Officer/Agronomist, the women have:
Learned sustainable agricultural methods and became certified as seed multipliers for the Ministry of Agriculture
Been supplied with organic inputs, farming tools and an irrigation system
Learned cooperative management skills from the Rwandan Cooperatives Agency (RCA).
The effect of empowering women farmers extends far beyond themselves. Families become food secure and often engage in financial planning for the future. This means that important expenses like school fees, health insurance and costs associated with running a small business can be paid.
