Plant the Seed

by Maria Russo

1.6 billion women are farmers. Most are extremely poor and do not even own the land they farm. These women, who barely earn enough income to feed themselves and their families are the ones producing much of the food you and I consume.

In Africa, and particularly in Rwanda where we work, there is the potential to end poverty simply by equipping farmers with things like storage units, farming tools, simple irrigation systems and high quality seeds.

For our women in Rwanda, having high quality seeds to grow and sell their crops is the difference between having enough for their families to eat and going with only one small meal each day.

With your support, we can empower our women to purchase high-quality seeds so that they can begin planting the way to a new future — a future filled with possibilities and opportunities for their families. A future where they have enough food to eat each day, a future where they can purchase health insurance for their families and a future that allows them to earn enough income to send their children to school.

We believe miracles happen every day. A seed in itself is a miracle. It creates life as a source of food. You can help change the lives of families in Rwanda by empowering our women to purchase the seeds they need to thrive as smallholder farmers.

Help our women #planttheseed for a better future by donating today.
