Notes From the Field Part 1

February 02, 2016

Dear HU Family,

It’s been one week since we landed in Rwanda and so much has happened. I can honestly say it’s been one of the most incredible weeks of my life.

The purpose of our trip is to meet all of the women who will benefit from our upcoming project and to learn about there lives. We spent each day visiting the women in their homes, walking with them through their village, meeting their children and their husbands and listening to stories about their struggles, their grief and their dreams.

The one thing that I have learned is that no matter where we are from, no matter our skin color or our traditions, we are truly all the same at heart. We all want to see our children happy and cared for, we all want to feel loved and part of a community, we all want to be happy, and, most of all, we all hope - no matter how bleak things may seem - that we will find the happiness we seek for ourselves and our loved ones. Hope is a universal emotion that keeps us believing in life and in love.

With your help, we can triple the income for these women farmers, so that they can send their children to school, secure health insurance for their family members and have enough to eat EVERY DAY.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for your continued love and support!

With much love & gratitude,
